Investing in people, research and infrastructure

RDC Brand

The inspiration for the RDC logo lies in waves that surround and shape Newfoundland and Labrador; the science and technology at the heart of the vibrant research and development community in our province; and the active partnership between industry, academia and government.

Newfoundland and Labrador is shaped by waves. For millennia they have crashed upon our shores, carving a distinctive face upon the land. They have inspired our determination as a people to persevere and prosper. Today, that same fortitude is producing a sea change in how we think, increasing innovation and enterprise on our shores - a wave of opportunities through collaborative research and development.

The motion of waves is also fundamental in science and technology. Sound waves, light waves, electromagnetic waves and wave equations all describe the behavior of matter. As we explore the world of natural science, waves are a recurrent feature in describing energy and motion.

The three waves symbolizing academia, industry and government are the moving forces of ingenuity that define our future. The intersection of these waves captures the nexus of inspiration where ideas, purpose and a desire for change intersect. The diversity and vibrancy of the provincial research and development community is reflected in the trio of rich colours that bring the logo to life.
